today I learned about lea. this is an assembly instruction mnemonic short for "load effective address". the semantics are the same as mov, but that instead of loading the value at the address and moving into the dst register, the address itself is moved into the dst register.

as an aside, I learned the definition of the word "circa". It's a synonym for "approximately" and is typically used when paired with a date.
